First of all, I would like to extend my gratitude to Dr. V.S. Sathyan and Miss. Corrine for giving me this opportunity to serve at GWT Children Home. Both of them are like father and mother figures to us, with Dr. Sathyan being our guardian angel. We live here like a family.

“Empowering Young Lives, Building Brighter Futures”

Serving the Underprivileged:

The GWT Trust provides a safe haven for orphaned, semi-orphaned, and below-poverty-line(BPL) children. It brings me immense happiness to witness these children receiving nutritious food, clothes, and education tailored to their preferences. The environment here is not only safe but also nurturing, allowing children to grow and thrive.

Initial Impressions and Inspirations:

When I arrived at this home, I first met Esther Akka, she was my inspiration and always she told me that I’m very supportive of this Trust.

Extracurricular Activities:
I was pleasantly surprised and happy to see the various activities available to develop the children’s talents, such as music, karate, and yoga. I also had the chance to attend collector meeting, government official meetings and seminars at the district and state levels, which was a great opportunity for me.

Resilience During the COVID-19 Pandemic:

The COVID-19 pandemic was a challenging time for everyone, but we were fortunate to be in a safe environment at the GWT Children Home. We had access to healthy and varied food, and the sense of community kept our spirits high. I feel truly blessed to have been part of this family during such a critical time.

Counseling and Guidance:

In my role as a counselor, I interacted with the children, listened to their concerns, and provided guidance to assist them in their studies, boost their confidence, and lead normal lives. My coordination with schools, including attending parent-teacher meetings and school festivals, has been integral in ensuring the childrenโ€™s academic and social success.

Celebrating Together:

Celebrating festivals and birthdays with the children has been a joyous experience. We participated in these functions like a family, creating beautiful memories and strengthening our bonds.

Recognition and Awards:

Global Watche Development trust was recognized as the best charity organization” for its exemplary work in the safety, care, and education of underprivileged children in the Tiruvannamalai district. Receiving the award from the District Collector on Republic Day, alongside Dr. Sathyan sir, was a moment of immense pride for me.

Additionally, the Collector presented a memento in appreciation of our cooperation in a program organized by the District Social Welfare on the theme of “Kalam Kanum Pengal” Our children’s participation in various art events was highly appreciated, and coordinating this program was an enriching experience for me.

Conclusion:
My journey at GWT Children Home has been immensely rewarding. It has been a privilege to serve and support these children and see them grow and thrive in a safe and nurturing environment. The trust and cooperation from Dr. Sathyan ,Miss. Corrine and Miss. Esther along with the dedication of everyone involved, make this place truly special.
